I’m Skylar — a 29-year-old editorial assistant, content creator, and homemaker-in-the-making. I’m passionate about building a life rooted in warmth, grace, and purpose, and encouraging other women to do the same.
By day, I work as an Editorial Assistant at the U.S. Geological Survey, helping translate complex science into meaningful stories for a national audience. With degrees in Environmental Science & Policy and Communications, I’ve spent the last four years refining how we communicate truth, beauty, and purpose.
But Bright Light Home was born from a much more personal journey.
I was raised in a hardworking, working-class family where perseverance was everything. Though I didn’t grow up in a faith-centered home, I chose to be baptized after college — a decision that marked the beginning of the life I wanted to build: one filled with intention, love, and light.
Since then, I’ve:
- Led editorial teams and virtual conferences
- Received a Blue Pencil & Gold Screen Award for managing a national children’s book project
- Developed a heart for helping women like you find peace in your pace, joy in your home, and beauty in everyday living
