Harvesting Gratitude: Cultivating a Heart of Thankfulness

One of the rituals I shared in my Peaceful Morning Rituals Guide is writing down three things I’m grateful for. It’s a simple habit but one that gently shifts the tone of my entire day.

As we move deeper into fall, I’ve been thinking about how gratitude isn’t just a morning moment. It’s something we can harvest daily through prayer, reflection, and the way we move through our homes and relationships.

Today, I want to share a few gentle ways I’m cultivating a thankful heart this season. I invite you to do the same.

🍂 Here are a few gentle ways I’m cultivating a thankful heart this season:

  1. Keep a gratitude journal (simple prompts you love). ✍️

Even a few lines a day can shift your perspective. I like to use prompts like:

  • What am I thankful for today?
  • Where did I see God’s grace this week?
  • What small moment brought me peace?

This practice helps me stay rooted in the present. I trust what God has given me right now. I do this without worrying about what’s next.

“Give thanks in all circumstances…”: 1 Thessalonians 5:18

  1. Creating a gratitude jar or board at home. 🏡

Sometimes I write little notes of thanks and place them in a jar on my desk. Other times, I pin them to a corkboard in my kitchen. It’s a visual reminder that even in hard seasons, beauty is still blooming.

Try this with your family, roommates, or small group. It’s a sweet way to reflect and connect together.

  1. Sharing thankfulness with family or friends. 💌

A quick text. A handwritten note. A warm hug.

Gratitude multiplies when we share it. Lately, I’ve been making it a point to speak my thanks out loud to God, to loved ones, and even to strangers who show kindness.
